Re-opening of the Thrifters’ Paradise Store
After several years of successful operation and significant contribution to the Domestic Abuse Services of Our Lady of Good Counsel Society, Thrifters’ Paradise has relocated to its new location, into a much larger footprint, two stores away from its previous location on 56 Avenue, in downtown Langley City. The relocated store will still feature lightly-used and higher-end items, ranging from clothing, household goods and books, but now also includes a broader range of mens’ and childrens’ clothing, change rooms for both men and women, an expanded book room and a dedicated section for furniture. Customers and staff will enjoy the increased isle space and the clearly marked sections for the various departments.
All of this was made possible by generous donors and the hard work and attention to detail of the many volunteers during the two-week transition period. Of special note is the dedicated support and exemplary effort of the store manager, who tirelessly contributed very long days to organize and direct the store’s transition into a fresh and inviting space! Behind the scene was the store manager’s husband and son who assisted with the renovated new look and spent many hours with initial wall removals, clean-up of debris, trips to dispose discarded materials, followed by relocating shelving, furniture and goods from the old store to its new location.
Kudos to all involved in this huge effort and well wishes for the continued success of the Thrifters’ Paradise store!

A small store with a BIG HEART! We are thrilled to report that Thrifters’ Paradise is thriving under the volunteer management of our Thrift Store Liaison Chairperson Maureen Carter and her fabulous team of volunteers. Our volunteers are amazing, dedicated and an inspiration to work with.
The store is a bustling enterprise, packed with surprises and treasures at great bargain prices. We have been very well received in the shopping community of downtown Langley, continually receiving praise for our well organized, attractive displays, and clean, friendly, environment!
Volunteering at Thrifters’ Paradise—There are many opportunities for volunteering! There are 2 shifts each day, Tuesday to Saturday. The work involves sorting, pricing, and preparing merchandise for display as well as tidying up shelves and cashiering. We anticipate an even greater need for helpers during the summer months when some of our regular volunteers will go on holidays or have special days planned with their families. Sign up to work one shift a week or an entire day! We also have some volunteers who are only available one day a month or on call for emergencies. We are grateful for whatever time you can give and would love to welcome you to our volunteer team! The store is a fun place to be with a friendly and hospitable atmosphere. Call or visit the store for more information and to get an application form.
Donating your treasures—We accept donations during regular store hours and can arrange pick up if necessary. Our loyal customers are continually looking for the high quality items we have become known for. Fashionable ladies clothing, jewelry, accessories, home décor, and children’s wear are our top sellers! Popular too are books, dishes, kitchen and small appliances, CD’s and DVD’s. We are unable to take large furniture, electronics, baby mattresses, cribs, playpens, highchairs, or car seats.
We go through a huge quantity of stock and count on you to keep our inventory new, fresh and exciting! Funds raised through Thrifters’ Paradise cover our operational costs and support the programs of Domestic Abuse Services – Our Lady of Good Counsel Society.
