Getting out of an abusive or violent relationship isn’t easy. Maybe you’re still hoping that things will change or you’re afraid of what your partner will do if he discovers you’re trying to leave. Whatever your reasons, you probably feel trapped and helpless. But help is available. There are many resources available for women in domestic violence situations or for women who are constantly feeling disrespected in their intimate relationships and do not know what to do about it. There are helplines available in the Lower Mainland, transition houses where you and your children can stay for 30 days, community centres who offer ‘Stopping the Violence’ and ‘Children who witness abuse’ programs, counselling services, and legal services.
If you are in immediate danger please call 911.
